Teeth Whitening

Tooth discolouration can occur due to stains that accumulate on the surface of our teeth. Staining usually occurs from the foods and drinks we consume, like curries, coffee, tea, red wine and soda. Other factors that may cause tooth discolouration are dental hygiene, smoking, medications, diseases, and genetic factors. Teeth whitening is a great way to offset the effects of staining to maintain a beautiful and bright smile.

It is one of the quickest and most affordable ways to brighten a smile. As part of our comprehensive range of cosmetic dentistry services, Broome Dental Clinic offers both in-chair and at-home teeth whitening services to help restore your smile to its original glory.

We always recommend that you have your teeth professionally cleaned before undergoing any kind of teeth whitening treatment.

In-chair Teeth Whitening

The main benefit of having your teeth whitening done in our clinic is speed. You can walk into our clinic with yellowing, stained teeth, undergo a whitening treatment, and you’ll leave the dentist's chair with an instantly brighter, more confident smile.

If you opt for in-chair whitening with us, take-home whitening trays are included to enable you to freshen up your smile over the following months.

With Philips Zoom! in-chair whitening, you can achieve a smile up to 8 shades whiter in just 45 - 60 minutes. The bonus? You get outstanding results with minimal sensitivity.

How does Philips Zoom WhiteSpeed whiten your teeth?

Your treatment starts with your dental practitioner assessing your suitability for teeth whitening. Please note any fillings, crowns or veneers you already have on your teeth will not get whiter under the treatment.

Once you’re ready, just sit back and we will handle the next steps:

  • First, we take impressions of your teeth to allow us to make your take-home trays

  • We check your current shade, so we can both see the difference after your treatment is complete

  • Then we will prepare your mouth for whitening by applying a barrier to your gums to protect them from coming into contact with the whitening gel.

  • We then apply a layer of advanced whitening gel to your teeth.

  • To speed up the whitening process, we’ll shine the WhiteSpeed blue LED lamp onto your teeth. This accelerates the whitening, plus the lamp’s variable settings ensure you’ll get a comfortable experience.

  • This is repeated three to four times with each round lasting 15 minutes.

  • Once the whitening procedure has been completed, we will apply the post-treatment gel to help protect enamel and reduce sensitivity. You will then be issued your take-home trays to use when necessary

The entire process usually takes around 90 minutes including before and aftercare.

Take-home Teeth Whitening

For those who prefer to do their whitening treatment in the privacy of their own home and at their own convenience, our at-home whitening kits are just as effective as what you’ll find in our clinic. The main difference is that you’ll be directed to use the custom whitening trays and whitening gel an hour or so daily for about two weeks, depending on your smile goals. In the end, your teeth will be whiter, but it will be a more gradual improvement.

What are my options for teeth whitening at home?

Convenience means different things to different people, so we have 2 types of home whitening that can brighten your smile. All of our teeth whitening treatments are designed to whiten your teeth with minimal sensitivity.

DayWhite and NiteWhite treatments are both applied in the same easy way; the difference comes down to when and how long you wear your trays.

With DayWhite you’ll wear your trays once a day. With NiteWhite, trays are worn overnight - you can remove trays as soon as you get up.

When you’re ready to whiten your teeth, brush and floss well to remove plaque, then follow these easy steps:

  • Put a teardrop amount of whitening gel into each tooth space in your trays.

  • Gently place the trays over your teeth.

  • When the prescribed time for your formulation is up, take out your trays and give them a good clean with cold water.

  • Rinse your mouth well and remove any remaining gel with a toothbrush without toothpaste. Now enjoy your whiter smile!

Every take-home formula is made of a unique blend of ingredients that helps protect enamel and reduces sensitivity. Just one more thing to smile about!
